“If you want to know where your heart is look to where your mind goes when it wanders.”
I began counseling many years ago in a church when the pastor handed me the counseling department (which was me) and said do it. He was trusting and I was eager to go. It felt right from the very beginning. I loved being able to walk with people through the traumas of life and the trust they put in me. It was nothing but joy when I was able to give perspective to people in the midst of pain and confusion. I loved seeing them heal and grow and gain understanding but I soon realized I needed more specialized training. I went back to school and received a Masters in Counseling Psychology and became licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist. In my personal life, I have dealt with many of the issues I see in my clients today. My greatest teachers have been personal experience and the leading of God in my life. I try never to forget the courage it takes to decide to reach out for help and begin the process of healing.
Do you feel depressed and anxious much of the time? I utilize EMDR, a state of the art modality in the treatment of all types of trauma. Do you feel drained and angry? Do the people who mean the most to you in the world often get the worst of you? Let me help you reconnect in a way that restores your emotions and the misery of broken relationships. I specialize in conflicted relationships, depression, anxiety and adult children of abuse or neglect, as well as restoration and parenting in marriage. I have combined years as a Christian counselor with experience working with military families and individuals. I know first hand the stress combat, PTSD, multiple deployments and trauma has on a family.
I work with all types of trauma and anxiety as they affect both the individual and marital relationships. If you are experiencing separation or divorce I can guide you through the overwhelm and assist you in healthy resolution and crucial co-parenting skills.
If you are dealing with a loved one with an addiction and it seems to be consuming you I gently suggest you may be playing a role in the problem though it seems like you’re doing everything you can to help. Trust me. Let me help you get unhooked so you can survive and your loved one has the very best chance for recovery.
If you are dealing with trauma, either past or present and feel that your life is disrupted by thoughts and feelings that overwhelm you I would love to talk with you. If you have served in the military and are weighed down by experiences that are difficult to define or understand or your relationships are suffering I would like to help. You don’t have to quietly suffer as your life falls apart.
I have been in practice for over 20 years. If you think you would like to work with me on your struggles in life I would love to hear from you.
